Arokehe (longfin eel) Cottage was built around 1910 as a miner's cottage. It has been updated and repaired over the years and is now a cozy, rustic, two-bedroom bach.

The cottage has a full kitchen and bathroom but is by no means fancy.

  • Beautiful location on the bank of the Mokihinui River

  • Easy walking distance to the beach

  • Easy walking distance to the Mokihinui cafe

  • TV, freeview box, DVD player, microwave, etc

  • Private whitebaiting/fishing stand at the back door, - this can be used to swim or launch kayaks etc at high tide

Note - there is no laundry facility at the bach and linens are not provided. Please bring your own sheets, pillowcases, towels, tea-towels, etc.

There is no landline or wifi. There is mobile reception from one corner of the kitchen window (which is labeled). This is ok for hotspot and texts.

Supplies are fairly minimal, so please take your own cleaning supplies, toilet paper, etc - sometimes this will be there but there are no guarantees.
